6-Week GPP Training Cycle
This particular training cycle was designed for use within an affiliate, and geared towards a competent, well-rounded, and experienced athlete, but someone who may still be lacking some higher end skills or needs to “build their engine” for the upcoming OPEN season. The week contains 6 workouts with a scheduled rest day Sunday.
The purpose of this particular training cycle is to develop higher end skills (typical to the OPEN competition), while continuing to develop an athlete’s “engine”. Although most of your “engine” work would likely take place in the latter part of the training year, the first cycle of the year is really the LAST opportunity to build that capacity.
Rowing, burpees, pull-ups/muscle-ups, and thrusters will all be present in this cycle as their inclusion in the OPEN is common.
